AMRAVATI: BJP MLA from Rajahmundry-Urban, Akula Satyanarayana, confirmed his resignation from the party and the assembly's membership to join the Jana Sena Party of Pawan Kalyan on Sunday.
The BJP MLA from Rajahmundry Urban has reportedly told news agency ANI that he will also be tendering ”my resignation letter to state Assembly speaker on Monday. I will join Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party”.
In a major to jolt to BJP, Rajahmundry sitting MLA Akula Satyanarayana resigned to the party. He will be joining in Janasena soon. Announcing his decision to join Janasena and Satyanarayana handed over his resignation letter to Andhra Pradesh BJP state party president Kanna Lakshminarayana.
“I could not send the resignation to the Speaker as Sunday is off,” he added. Also, he said that he would meet Pawan Kalyan in Vijayawada on Monday and join the Jana Sena party.
Andhra Pradesh goes to the simultaneous Lok Sabha and state assembly polls in May 2019.
Satyanarayana represented Nagaram constituency of East Godavari district in the state assembly. He is likely to get the JSP ticket for the state assembly or the Lok Sabha seat as Pawan Kalyan is facing a shortage of senior and credible candidates, reports said.
In the 2019 Assembly Elections, Pawan Kalyan will be up against the ruling TDP led by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party. Pawan Kalyan had earlier announced that his party would contest in all 175 constituencies in Andhra Pradesh in 2019.
