Rajamahendravaram: “A Beautiful Journey on river Godavari from Rajamahendravaram to Papi Hills with a boat ride and night stay”. Papikondalu (Papi Hills) a tourist place, which is located around 60 km from Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh.
Papikondalu hills are one of the most visited tourist attractions in Andhra Pradesh, especially for nature lovers. I was planning to visit this place with my family from a long time ago. Finally, we got a chance to visit Papi Hills.
There are both AP tourism and private operated tour agencies offers a 2 days “Papi Hills” trip with an overnight stay at Kolluru Bamboo Hut Resorts and Bhadrachalam from Rajahmundry. I choose an AP Tourism agency and I bought tickets for my family to visit “PAPI HILLS” along with the 2 days trip from Rajahmundry with an overnight stay at the Kolluru Bamboo Resort.
We started off from Rajahmundry for a 2 days package to Papikondalu. On Day 1, Morning 7 AM we were picked up from the Rajahmundry Markandeya temple in a van to Pattiseema village, where we boarded a boat. Breakfast was served while the boat was on the move and I felt very happy, this is my first experience of A/C cruise boat inside with open top roof.
There was an entertainment program in the boat performed by a group of boys and they invited us to dance. There were other activities like games, etc. In an hour and a half, we reached Gandi Pochamma Temple. After a visit to the temple, the boat moved. At 1.30 PM Vegetarian lunch was served at the Boat while on travelling.
Then we reached Papikondalu around 2 PM approximately. It is also known as “Papidi Kondalu” or “The Papi Hills”. These are a series of mountains located in Rajahmundry in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. The scenic beauty of these hills has to be viewed and enjoyed which cannot be expressed in words.
Papikondalu Mountain range runs along River Godavari, one of the largest and vivacious rivers in India. The mighty river narrowing and passing with twists and turns along the Papi Hills is every visitor’s delight and excitement.
After that around 3.00 PM we visited “Ramakrishna Muni Vatika” (Ashram) and Veereswara Swamy Temple and darshan of Lord Shiva at Perantapalli in West Godavari district, then later we were dropped at Kolluru for a night halt. Around 5 PM they served Tea with Snacks.
Here we had enjoyed taking a river bath in a small tributary of the river Godavari, the water is crystal clear. You can go for a forest trekking. You can play some outdoor games like volleyball in the river basin. Night stay at bamboo huts and the bonfire is an awesome experience. It is an exciting and wonderful experience to stay here and enjoying nature. We had a tasty & healthy dinner and there was a campfire. At night they served both veg and non-veg for dinner.
And this is a perfect place to enjoy the Pollution Free, Internet Free, Tension Free holiday. The best part of the vacation will be bamboo hut night stay.
Day 2, Next morning after breakfast we were taken to Pamuleru, a small stream flowing parallel to the tribal village. We had plenty of fun here. We took baths here and spend about 2 hours. Later we returned to our huts. Lunch served from 12.30 noon. At 3.30 pm we boarded our boat for our return journey.
We were dropped return back to Pattiseema site. On the way, we saw the Devipatnam Police Station which has a historic importance. From Pattiseema, we were picked up in a bus and were dropped at the Kotipalli Bus stand, Rajahmundry.
I would like to recommend this place for all the nature lovers and soul seekers. A nice boat ride through the Papi Hills with family members. I recommend a two-day trip as you will get to stay in the beach cottages. This is my true experience of the Papi Hills trip in this tribal village. So book a night stay package and enjoy the trip.
Trip Expenditure: Rs. 5000/- for 6 family members for 2 days Papi Hills trip with boat ride and night stay.
Advice: Avoid this trip in a summer season, it will be unbearably hot.
Experience: Papikondalu trip gave us an exciting experience which we cannot forget in our life. Gorgeous river view, bamboo huts and pleasant air in the night with no electric lights is to be experienced.
The stay over there is completely off from the city life and all made me and my family very energetic and refreshed away from the present robotic busy days. I would like to suggest this is the best time to visit Papikondalu is from October to January. This place is perfect for people of all ages.
Enjoy your next trip : Papi Hills
